39th Annual
Chino Invitational
Band Review & Field Show Tournament
We are pleased to present the 39th Annual Chino Invitational Band Review and Field Show Tournament. More than fifty of the finest high school and middle school bands will compete for top honors in parade and field competition. These bands represent a wide range of experience and size, from those new to these competitions to others with a long history, from small groups (45 members) to large (350 members). Bands will be coming from all over Southern California, representing San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, and Kern Counties.
They have all spent countless hours in rehearsal and training to achieve these performances and will be competing for top honors in the categories of Band, Drill Team, Auxiliary, Percussion, and Drum Major. They will be judged on the basis of a variety of skills and talents revolving around creating music or handling a variety of props while moving with precision and purpose to create memorable performances for the enjoyment and entertainment of the audience.
The morning Field Show Tournament features twelve high school bands in Classes 1A, 2A, and 3A and takes place at Chino High School (5472 Park Place, Chino, CA 91710). The morning Field Show Tournament begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 11:15 a.m.
The Band Review (parade) portion of the event begins at noon and concludes at 3:30 p.m., featuring forty high school and middle school bands in all classes. The competition area is located on Riverside Drive, centered at 13th Street. A second performance area, the Tournament of Roses Area, is a short distance later in the parade on Park Place, starting at 10th Street. Tournament of Roses Music Committee members will evaluate bands for possible invitation to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade in 2011 and beyond.
The evening Field Show Tournament features seventeen high school band in Classes 4A, 5A, and 6A, as well as the host band – Chino High School’s own award-winning 77TH Cavalry Band and Pageantry. The evening tournament starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m.
This year’s event will also feature several performances throughout the day by the Kingsmen Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps.
Adjudication for this year’s event will be provided primarily by the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association (SCSBOA). Percussion judging will be provided by an independent judge.
Check back soon for the official performance times.
